Fitting a headboard
Almost all our current range of headboards are supplied with legs which bolt to
the bottom of the headboard, and are fixed to your bed base.
Typically the legs will add 21.5 inches (55cm) to the height of
the headboard. You can expect adjustment of up to +- 2 inches (5cm),
depending on the exact specifications of your bed.

1. Unpacking your headboard
Please unpack your headboard carefully; putting the packaging to one side should you
need to return your headboard for any reason.
All metal headboards are supplied with sufficient wing nuts and bolts to
fit the legs to the headboard

2. Fitting the legs
Using the wing nuts and bolts, fix the legs to the headboard. Tighten them up firmly,
but not too tight as they may need slight adjusting when you fit the headboard to the bed.
On metal headboards, the leg is shaped to give it rigidity; the flat side fits to the headboard.
the bolts should pass first through the headboard, then through the leg.

3. Fitting to the bed
You divan base will have been supplied with headboard bolts at the head end of the bed
(about 6 inches in from the side of the bed). Use these through the legs to fit the
headboard to the bed.
The flat side of the leg should be closest to the bed. The wing nuts will then be 'wall side'
|
4. Vertical Adjustment
The legs have slots in them so they adjust vertically.
Ideally, they should fit flush to the bottom of the divan in the picture above.
Though they can go lower as you can see in the picture here on the right.
Too low however and they will drag on the ground when you try to move the bed.

You can also raise the headboard slightly, but take care not to go too high;
otherwise the headboard will not be properly held on the lower timber of the divan.
You will then have a very wobbly headboard!
|
5. Finials and feet
Some headboards come with the finials and feet packed separately.
These generally just need to be pushed gently into place.
Headboards with more complex finials should have specific instructions.
